The Solar toolkit is a free opensource framework to understand, predict and collect energy and light from the SUN.
Disclaimer: The toolkit is provided for educational use only, as it is, and we don’t provide any support.
It’s an experimental tool and requires an understanding of creative coding and knowledge of vvvv (beta).
You can follow updates and discussions on the vvvv forums.
The immediate roadmap: more practical Ux and easy SVG exports for drawing plotters.

This tool is created as part of the solar lab, initially connected to our opensource Heliostat project.
Installation:
1- Install vvvv (pc) last release is v50beta42.
2- Download the Solar Toolkit (v 0.1)
3- Unzip and open: Solar_toolkit.v4p
How to use the Toolkit:
1- Insert your local GPS coordinates (you can use the shortcut to openstreetmap > Show my location > and copy the GPS coordinates from the URL).
2- Explore, try, break, learn.
Sun Paths
HERE are the main Visualisation modes:
trajectories of the Sun in the sky. 2d (top view) and 3D (perspective).

Sun Dials
24 positions of the sun visualized: useful to create sun dials and read the time from a shadow projected from the center..

Day lenght
Circular view: A line is a day Blue is night Yellow is sun light.

Horizon view
A flat panoramic view, 360 degrees horizontally, +90 and -90 on top and bottom.

All visualisation modes have SVG export functions, a better Ux will be available in the next release.
